NEW PROJECT: Compute and graphically present the proportions of the population of England and Wales undergoing hip and knee arthroplasty.

Compute and
graphically present the proportions of the population of England and Wales
undergoing hip and knee arthroplasty. We will present the data temporally
(monthly from April 2003 to date) and geographically (by NHS region) using data
from the National Joint Registry (counts of completed operations) and the
Office for National Statistics (regional population estimates). All data
sources to be used this project are publicly available for download from the
relevant authorities. The outputs will be novel in that they are not available
in other resources (e.g. registry data).

Deliverables: Presentation at an international conference for
arthroplasty registries and will be submitted as an original research
article to an appropriate, internationally important, peer-reviewed journal.
