Professor Anne Kennedy

Honorary Professorial Research Fellow

Anne is a Principal Research Fellow and a health services researcher with extensive experience of developing and evaluating patient focused interventions for self-management support. Anne has been a principal investigator on a number of NIHR and HTA trials of self-management information and is widely published and cited in this area of research. She has developed and evaluated a number of self-management support, patient information and health care professional training interventions. She was PI for a component of the Expert Patient Programme (Trial Evaluation) and the WISE (Whole Systems in Self-management engagement). Anne has won awards for her patient engagement work including a plain English award for her design of guided informational resources for patients. As well as CLAHRC Wessex, Anne is currently working on a European FP7 project "EUWISE " in partnership with colleagues at Southampton and partners from 6 other countries examining the role of social support and networks in self-management for people with type 2 diabetes.
